News

22nd January

Cooramin Fairytale (Fiji R x Medallion/Salute) headed off to the breaker yesterday!  It was her first time travelling and first time anywhere away from home and she took it all in her stride.  She is such a lovely girl and we really look forward to seeing her under saddle.  Brent Eastwell will take over the ride for a while when she returns home, so if you would like to inspect her at the current price, please feel free to get in touch.  The price will go up as she gets established under saddle.

We took some new photos and videos of our two beautiful double-frozen-semen filly foals, Songbird and Ladymeyer, today.  Check them out on our For Sale page!

11th December

A very exciting new addition to the broodmare herd arrived this afternoon!  We were devastasted at the loss of PS Lah Dee Dah last month and this left a hole in our breeding program.  When the opportunity came up to purchase Hillbreeze Rapture, we jumped at the chance.  Rapture is by the legendary Rubinstein son Rotspon, out of a mare by Carbid (sire of the amazing Cinderella), who was in turn out of a mare by Walt Disney, half brother to Weltmeyer, giving Rapture three generations of frozen semen breeding of the highest calibre.  She is just 3yo and in addition to her fantastic pedigree, she is stunningly beautiful, moves like a superstar and is a total sweetie to boot!  We are very excited to add her to our breeding program and can hardly wait to see what she produces.

10th December

Another two 45 day pregnancies are safely on the way, with Hunterview Florencia (by French Kiss) in foal to Sandro Hit and Cooramin Bedazzled (by Aloha Bobby Dazzler) in foal to Royal Hit.  Both are repeat breedings and we would be delighted if the next edition of these crosses is as good as the first!

30th November

We are delighted to announce the first of our 45 day pregnancy tests, with Byalee Mandolin (Medallion x Salute) confirmed back in foal to Hilkens Nougat Cream.  This is the third time we have repeated this cross and the demand for the foals has been phenomenal, so we look forward to seeing the next addition in September next year.

18th November

Devastatingly, disaster struck our newest mare PS Lah Dee Dah (Lady) today and we lost her to colic, despite enormous efforts to save her including surgery.  Lady was a daughter of Heather's sentimental favourite mare, Aloha Crystal Bell, who is a sister to her FEI partner Aloha Titan, so it is heartbreaking to lose the opportunity to carry on the line.

Lady was a gorgeous mare, multi-champion winner, and leaves behind her 7 week old Royal Hit colt who has been retained by Ponderosa Stud.  Huge thanks go out to Cheryl Hatswell of Ponderosa for taking such good care of Lady in her time of need and for driving through the night to get her to the hospital for surgery.  We are all devastated at the loss of such a beautiful mare.

7th Novemb

A big congratulations today to Natalie Boucher on the purchase of the very spunky Cooramin Napoleon (Hilkens Nougat Cream x Medallion/Salute)!  This is such a gorgeous foal and we can hardly wait to see him out and about in the pony dressage arena.  Nipper will stay at Cooramin until he is weaned, then head off to his new home on the Mornington Peninsula.

2nd November

Our last foal for the season arrived last night - another filly!  We have never been blessed with many fillies, so it's fantastic to have two out of three for this season!  This beautiful girl is by Lord Sinclair out of our very special Weltmeyer mare Hunterview Wildfire.  Lord Sinclair is the sire of Brett Parbery's new FEI stallion Lord of Loxley.  He is also the sire of sensational champion young dressage horse Lord Loxley (confusing, but a different horse!), who is out of a Weltmeyer mare so we hope that this new baby will live up to her pedigree.  Here are some photos at just a few hours old.

3rd October

Great excitement at Cooramin today as we welcomed a filly by the great Sandro Hit out of Hunterview Florencia, who is by world young horse champion French Kiss.  We have called the filly Songbird (aka Sasha).  She is incredibly tall, especially considering Florencia is a maiden, and we can hardly wait to see how she unscrunches!

A couple of newborn pics!

Some new pics of Napoleon have also been added to the For Sale page.  He is filling out into an absolutely gorgeous type and is oh-so-cheeky!

21st September

Napoleon (Nipper to his friends!) is doing very well and is just so cute that he deserves some updated pics!  Here he is at three days of age.

17th September

We welcomed our first foal for the season tonight - an irresistably cute colt by Hilkens Nougat Cream out of 151cm Byalee Mandolin (Medallion/Salute).  He is a friendly little fella with the sweetest little pony face.  Welcome Cooramin Napoleon!

20th August

Huge congratulations to Kathryn Wright and her 2yo Cooramin Ramiro Hit (Royal Hit x Don Ramiro) for winning his class and being awarded Reserve Champion WB gelding at Adelaide Royal today!  We are delighted to see him looking so great and bringing success to his owner.  Can't wait to see him under saddle!

16th August

After just five weeks in work as a dressage horse, Duggie is really looking the part with Brent Eastwell in the saddle.  Here are some samples of many great photos that we took of him over the weekend.  All going well, he will be advertised in October and we really hope to find him a great home, as he is a really special, rideable little horse.

21st July

We are delighted to welcome Brent Eastwell to the team at Cooramin, stepping into the saddle to prepare Cooramin Don Aloha (Duggie) for sale.  Brent has a rare combination of skills and experience with both dressage and young horses and we really look forward to seeing Duggie progress under his guidance.  Below are a couple of winter woolly photos taken today in the indoor arena at CSU, on their fifth ride together after a post-breaking spell.  Duggie is proving himself to be a wonderfully sensible and responsive young horse who will be a super partner for his future rider.  He will most likely be advertised for sale in the spring.

17th June

I am heading off to London today to visit my sister and her family.  I will return to Wagga on Saturday 2nd July and look forward to catching up with everyone on my return.  Many thanks to Jason, Mum and Jaymie for holding the fort at home while I am away.

14th June

We farewelled Cooramin Rialto Hit (Royal Hit x DP Debut) this afternoon, as he started his trip to Ponderosa Stud in the Barossa Valley.  We hope he travels well and really look forward to following his progress over the coming years.

This is the first time in years that we have had NO colts at Cooramin.  We only have one filly left from last year's foal crop (Riverside x Don Ramiro), a filly and gelding from 2009 (Fiji x Medallion/Salute and Royal Hit x Weltmeyer) and a 2008 gelding just under saddle (Don Ramiro x Aloha Crystal Bell).  Our sales have been really pleasing lately.  Feel free to contact us to discuss any of the above remaining horses for sale.

4th June

Huge congratulations to Cheryl Hatswell from Ponderosa Stud in South Australia on the purchase of Cooramin Rialto Hit (Royal Hit x DP Debut) today.  Cheryl will take Robbie as a potential stallion prospect for Ponderosa, which is very exciting for us at Cooramin.  We really look forward to seeing him develop as a colt and hope that he will grow into a magnificent stallion in years to come.

We are also delighted to announce the purchase of PS Lah Dee Dah from Ponderosa Stud.  Lah Dee Dah (Lady) is a young mare by Lontano out of Heather's sentimental favourite mare Aloha Crystal Bell (Tilly).  Despite a number of years of gallant efforts by us to breed a filly from Tilly, she has only produced one foal for Cooramin - a colt, now gelding, Cooramin Don Aloha.  She will turn 20yo this year, so we decided that to keep the line going we needed to seek out one of Tilly's daughters from her life before she came to Cooramin.  Lah Dee Dah is a beautiful mare who won Supreme Champion led foal at the AWHA Gala Day and has since had many wins including under saddle.  She is currently in foal to Royal Hit (to be retained by Ponderosa) and will remain at Ponderosa until that foal is weaned.  We really look forward to bringing her to Cooramin early next year and including her in our breeding program.  A couple of pics below...

31st May

Our hearts go out to the Abernethy family, who had to make the heartbreaking decision to euthanise Cooramin Nottingham (hilkens Nougat Cream x Byalee Mandolin) today.  He had a freak accident and very sadly could not be saved, despite everyone's best efforts.  It's a heartbreaking reminder of the fragility of horses...healthy and sound one minute and gone the next.  May this wonderfully talented pony live on in his siblings in years to come.

29th May

We said farewell to Cooramin Bernini (Belissimo M x Rotspon) today as he headed off to his new home in Bathurst.  We wish Toby all the very best with him and really look forward to seeing him out under saddle in a few years time.

27th May

Sadly, today brings not such good news.  DP Debut, who was supposed to be in foal to Royal Hit, was not looking at all pregnant, whilst the other pregnant mares are starting to look rather round.  Our fears were confirmed today when Debut was scanned and found to be sadly empty.  Debut has been our most consistent and reliable mare, so it is a real shame to lose this pregnancy, which would have been a full sibling to Cooramin Roxy Hit, Rhapsody Hit and Rialto Hit.  Hopefully this run of bad luck with pregnancy losses is now over, as we now only have three foals on the way for the coming season.

17th May

Congratulations to Leanne and Toby Farraway of Bathurst on the purchase of Cooramin Bernini (Belissimo M x Rotspon).  We really look forward to seeing this youngster grow up.  With a pedigree like his, he's sure to be a wonderfully rideable and talented horse.

We were delighted to receive another photo of yearling Cooramin Ramiro Hit (Royal Hit x Don Ramiro) strutting his stuff at the SA AWHA Gala Day, where he was awarded Reserve Champion Open led horse against all age groups and breeds.

16th May

The flurry of departures continued this afternoon as we said goodbye to Brae Donleila (Lily).  Lily has set off for her new home in South Australia with Eloise Kohler, where she will continue her breeding career.  She is carrying a pregnancy by Riverside, for a full sibling to the special 2010 filly Cooramin Riviera, so we wish Eloise the best of luck with both lily and her foal to come.

15th May

Another of our babies headed off to a new beginning today.  This time it was Cooramin Royal William (previously Razzle Dazzle - Royal Hit x Cooramin Bedazzled) who made the journey to Deniliquin with his new owner Janette Borella.  This boy is a bit special, being out of one of Cooramin's original anglo arab progeny, Cooramin Bedazzled.  If he had been a filly there's no way we would have parted with him, but luckily for Janette he was a boy!

13th May

Our weanling colt Cooramin Renoir Hit made the journey to his new owner Sue Walker in Young today.  We look forward to following the career of this lovely young horse with Sue and wish her all the very best with him.

10th May

We said goodbye to BS Rotspons Rythymnstyle today, as she headed off to her new home in Tamworth.  We wish Virginia Blanch all the best with her and look forward to news of her foals in the future.

9th May

Our latest addition arrived today - Santolini (Sophie) by Sir Donnerhall, out of Double TT Klass.  She travelled well down from Queensland and is in great spirits.  She will go out with some of the other weanlings over the next few days and we really look forward to seeing her mature and eventually become part of our breeding program.

8th May

It's been a very successful day for the Cooramin horses in the competition arena today.

South Australian based Kathryn Wright took her yearling Cooramin Ramiro Hit aka Rocky (Royal Hit x Don Ramiro) to his first show at the AWHA SA Gala Day, where he won both his classes and was awarded Reserve Champion in the open ring against many older horses.  He is looking fantastic and Kathryn reports that his behaviour at the show was impeccable.  Here are a couple of gorgeous photos of him:

We were also delighted to hear from Janice Naissen, the owner of Cooramin Flamecrest aka Flippa (Ferrero Rocher x Mongraf), who competed at Albury dressage today and WON a hotly contested prelim test at the tender age of 3yo.  Flippa has been going from strength to strength with Janice since she took him home on New Years Day, attracting attention wherever he goes.  He has so much natural talent and a level of rideability that is very rare indeed.

We are so pleased to see the owners of Cooramin horses enjoying them so much and we really look forward to following the futures of both these beautiful horses.

1st May

Cooramin Don Aloha (Duggie) went to the Youngstock Show in Wagga today.  It was a very well run show and we were delighted to come home with Champion Warmbood exhibit and Grand Champion Large Breed of the show!  Here are a couple of photos of his big day out.

29th April

We are excited to announce the purchase of the exquisite Sir Donnerhall x Double TT Klass filly Santolini (Sophie).  Sophie was born at Cooramin, out of our newest mare Double TT Klass (dam of two of our other mares - Hunterview Wildfire and Hunterview Florencia), but was retained by her previous owner Catherine Smith.  Catherine has had a change in her breeding direction and we were lucky enough to purchase Sophie.  She has only been in Queensland for about a month and will be coming back to us very soon....a very well-travelled baby!  Sophie will grow up at Cooramin and eventually take her place in our broodmare band.

This is the beautiful girl!

17th April

Congratulations to super young rider Megan Bryant, for winning the Cooramin Sporthorses Small Tour Championship at Young Dressage Championships today.  Her fantastic mare is by Don Ramiro out of a Salute dam and has recently returned from Germany, where Megan represented Australia as a young rider.  Megan has won a $2000 discount voucher for a Cooramin youngster of her choice and we look forward to helping her find her next young horse.

13th April

Wishing all the competitors at Young Dressage Championships all the very best for the weekend ahead.  We are proud to be sponsoring the FEI Small Tour Championship with a lovely embroidered rug and a $2000 discount voucher for any of our unbroken youngsters.  We will be sadly unable to attend, but we can't wait to congratulate the winner!

8th April

Congratulations go out today to two lucky new owners!  Sue Walker, a long-time friend and successful FEI dressage rider and coach from Young NSW, has bought Cooramin Renoir Hit (Royal Hit x Falkland Victory).  He will go to Young once he is weaned in a few weeks time and will hopefully go on to a very successful dressage career.  Congratulations also to Victoria Blanch from Tamworth NSW, who has purchased BS Rotspons Rythymnstyle, with plans to breed her to an imported Knabstrupper in the coming season.  We can't wait to see what this cross produces!

2nd April

We're excited to have picked up Duggie (Cooramin Don Aloha - Don Ramiro x Aloha Crystal Bell) from the breaker today.  He is going very well, with a great forward-moving attitude and the breaker has even played some basketball while riding him!  Here is a picture of Heather enjoying her first ride.

We have no doubt that this boy will follow in his uncle Titan's footsteps.  He will have a couple of weeks of work with Heather, attend a couple of shows in hand and then go out for a spell over winter.  He will come back into work in preparation for sale later in the year.

29th March

We have just returned from Dressage and Jumping with the Stars and the Bloomfield Farm auction, where we enjoyed watching a feast of gorgeous horses all weekend.  We were delighted to see Revelwood Donatello (Don Ramiro x TB) win the Champion of Champions, as well as Megan Bryant's wonderful Don Ramiro x Salute mare winning the Young Rider Prix St Georges.  Our little Don Ramiro boy (Cooramin Don Aloha) is finishing up at the breaker this week, so we are excited to see him under saddle.

Our new ads in Horse Deals come out this week, just in time before the horses all fluff up with winter coats.

Rotspons Rhythmnstyle is currently advertised in foal to Furst Love.  However, she was scanned today and sadly was found to have lost the pregnancy since her 45 day scan.  She is now offered for sale empty for the slashed price of $3000ono.  Her reproductive health is excellent and she has no other history of pregnancy loss so hopefully she will go on to be a successful producer for many years to come.

The new videos of Bernini, Renoir Hit and Riviera have been uploaded and you can find the links on our For sale page.

14th March

Some great new photos of Bernini (Belissimo M x Rotspon), Riviera (Riverside x Don Ramiro) and Renoir Hit (Royal Hit x Falkland Victory) have been uploaded to our For Sale page.  New videos of these three will be added over the next few days....watch this space!

10th March

We said farewell to Cooramin Nottingham (Hilkens Nougat Cream x Medallion) today, as he headed off to his new home at Heathmont Warmbloods on the Mornington Peninsula.  We wish Jacinta and little Jasmine all the very best with him and really look forward to seeing him out and about in pony dressage in a few years time.

For anyone interested in breeding ponies for dressage, Nottingham's dam, Byalee Mandolin (Medallion x Salute) is available for sale in foal again to Hilkens Nougat Cream.  This was a really fantastic cross, producing a foal whose movement would rival the best of the big horses.  See our For Sale page for more information.

27th February

It has been brought to our attention that the links for Fairytale's videos were going to old footage rather than the recent version.  This has now been rectified and we hope that you enjoy seeing her in her summer coat.

23rd February

Congratulations go out today to Janette Borella of Deniliquin on the purchase of the gorgeous Cooramin Razzle Dazzle (Royal Hit x Cooramin Bedazzled).  He really strutted his stuff when she came to visit and showed some super movement.  Combined with his gorgeous good looks and wonderful nature, he has a great future ahead.  We hope Janette loves him as much as we do!

7th February

We have two sales to report in the past week.  Congratulations go out to Renee Brawata on the purchase of the lovely matriarch Northern Linnea (Echo), who has a future breeding performance galloways, as well as Eloise Kohler on the purchase of the beautiful mare Brae Donleila (Lily) in foal to Riverside for a full sibling to this year's flash filly Cooramin Riviera.  Both mares will leave us when their current foals are weaned in autumn and we hope they give their new owners many years of healthy foals in the future.

23rd January 2011

New photos and video footage of all the youngstock have been uploaded to the For Sale page.  We hope you enjoy them!

29th December

Huge congratulations go out today to Janice Naissen from Albury on the purchase of Cooramin Flamecrest (Flippa).  This super young horse is going so well under saddle, like he has been doing it forever.  Heather has been riding him for the past week and can't speak highly enough of his rideability and natural balance.  We are sure that he and Janice will form a fantastic partnership and we wish her all the very best with him.

Big thanks must go to Gary Luther for once again doing a fantastic job riding Flippa.  Gary has ridden a number of the newly-started Cooramin horses in preparation for sale and gives them such confidence in their work.  We are very sorry to lose him as our rider this year as he has finished his studies in Wagga, but we wish him all the very best.

24th December

We are very happy to announce that our Rotspon mare, BS Rotspon Rhythmnstyle, is confirmed in foal to the sensational young stallion Furst Love, whose amazing pedigree features Furst Heinrich (Florestan x Donnerhall), Sandro Hit and Rubinstein.  This should be a super foal!

Wishing all our clients, friends and family a very Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year.

12th December

Sadly, our run of success with frozen semen pregnancies has been dashed, with confirmation today that Cooramin Bedazzled has lost her De Niro pregnancy.  This is a mare that we are hanging out for a filly from, to continue the bloodline of Heather's FEI dressage horse Aloha Titan through Bedazzled's sire Aloha Bobby Dazzler.  To add to the family connection, Bedazzled is out of Cooramin's original mare, Gold Lot, who was also the dam of Heather's more recent champion dressage partner Cooramin Mon Starr.  Hopefully it's not too late to try again with her this season.

6th December

We are very excited to announce our third frozen semen pregnancy for the season.  Hunterview Wildfire (Weltmeyer x Double TT Klass) is confirmed in foal to Lord Sinclair.  This is a very similar cross to Bundeschampion Lord Loxley.  Lord Sinclair is also the sire of Brett Parbury's new stallion Lord of Loxley.  Wildfire has been a fantastic producer for Cooramin and we expect this foal to be very special indeed.

Wagga is currently experiencing major flooding of the Murrumbidgee River.  We are fortunate to be high and dry, but the flood plains are giving us water views at the property that we had never dreamed of!  This is the view from the top of our hill.

Photography on the top of the hill attracted the attention of the two yearlings, Cooramin Fairytale (Fiji x Medallion/Salute) and Cooramin Redwood Hit (Royal Hit x Weltmeyer/Penmarric Killarney).  They were only too happy to pose for the camera!

30th November

Our final foal for 2010 arrived last night....a filly at last!  This little cutie is by Revelwood's awesome imported stallion Riverside, out of Brae Donleila (Lily) who is by consistent FEI producer Don Ramiro.  Mum and bub are both doing well, with Lily as usual taking motherhood in her stride and not the least bit disturbed in her routine...eating is always a high priority!

Here are some pics of our only filly for the year, taken at just a few hours old.

27th November

Northern Linnea (Echo) gave birth to  healthy bay colt by Royal Hit in the middle of the day today!  It was a busy day with a fence to fix, visitors inspecting horses, mares being bred and Echo lay down in the middle of it all and had her foal!  After losing last year's baby at birth and subsequently raising an orphan foal, it is lovely to see Echo get to mother her own baby this year.  He is another with the typical uphill Royal Hit shape with a great length of rein.

We are offering Echo and the new foal for sale for $6000ono if sold before she is re-bred in a few weeks time.  We need to reduce our broodmare numbers, so please contact us if you are interested in this fantastic bargain.  It has cost us more than this to produce the foal!  Echo is a wonderful mare, an easy breeder and has the most gorgeous temperament imaginable.  The Royal Hit and Falkland Victory bloodlines in this foal combine rideability on both sides of the pedigree.  This foal could be your next star for a very affordable price.  Buy now and get to know him as he grows up, as well as having the opportunity to breed more super foals from Echo.

Here are a couple of newborn pics, complete with Midwife Poppy helping out.

19th November

We're delighted to announce that Cooramin Bedazzled, our tall anglo mare by FEI dressage horse and Australian Champion anglo stallion Aloha Bobby Dazzler, is in foal to German supersire De Niro.  This is our second frozen semen pregnancy for the season so far...we are very excited about next year's foals!

14th November

A very exciting foal has arrived this morning - a colt by Bundeschampion and World Young Dressage Horse finalist Belissimo M, out of our new Rotspon mare BS Rotspon Rhythmnstyle.  What a gorgeous foal!  With a pedigree like this, combining the internationally successful Bolero and Rubinstein lines, his career will be very exciting to watch!

Here he is, newborn and still wet.

7th November

More pregnancy news!  Byalee Mandolin, our 151cm Medallion x Salute mare, is confirmed in foal to imported German Riding Pony Hilkens Nougat Cream.  This cross produced this year's sensational colt Cooramin Nottingham (Noddy) who was sold at just four weeks of age, so we are very excited to have another one on the way.  The interest generated by Noddy was phenomenal, with enquiries pouring in from everywhere.  Get in quick if you want to register your interest in this one for next year!

4th November

We are over the moon to announce that our maiden French Kiss mare, Hunterview Florencia, is confirmed in foal to the great Sandro Hit!  We hope that the combination of Florencia's lovely even temperament with the extravagance of Sandro Hit will produce something very special indeed.  Florencia is one of very few mares in Australia by former World Young Horse Champion French Kiss (Florestan x Donnerhall) and it will be very exciting to see what she can produce.

After a few days stuck in Melbourne, Cooramin Ramiro Hit (Rocky) finally arrived at his new home in South Australia today.  Good luck with him Kathryn!

27th October

We are delighted to announce another sale today and congratulations to Jacinta Abernethy of Heathmont Warmbloods on the purchase of Cooramin Nottingham (Hilkens Nougat Cream x Medallion/Salute) at the tender age of just a month old.  Noddy will stay here until he is weaned early next year, before heading to Victoria where he will meet his little rider-to-be Jasmine.  We are very excited for you Jacinta and Jasmine!

26th October

Congratulations go out today to Kathryn Wright from South Australia on the purchase of our Royal Hit x Don Ramiro yearling colt Cooramin Ramiro Hit (Rocky).  Kathryn has been a very successful young rider in SA, so we really look forward to seeing her progression with Rocky.  Rocky is such a lovey boy to have around and we are sure that they will develop a great partnership.

18th October

The first of our mares returned a positive pregnancy test today, much to our delight.  DP Debut is confirmed back in foal to Royal Hit.  This has been such a great, consistent cross for the past three seasons and we really look forward to meeting the next full sibling.

New photos have been added to the For Sale page for Cooramin Nottingham (Noddy) and Cooramin Razzle Dazzle.  Noddy also has some video footage and wow, can he move!  At just a week old, Razzle is a super type and we are very pleased with how he is unfolding.

11th October

It's been raining foals at Cooramin!  At dawn this morning we welcomed the arrival of a tall, elegant, pretty colt by Royal Hit out of our home-bred anglo mare Cooramin Bedazzled (Maggie).  Maggie is by the FEI dressage stallion Aloha Bobby Dazzler, whose family is an incredibly prolific producer of high level dressage horses including Heather's own Aloha Titan.

Here are a few pics of him, just born and then at 12 hours of age.

We did a bit of a photoshoot of Ramiro Hit (Royal Hit x Don Ramiro) and Redwood Hit (Royal Hit x Weltmeyer) over the weekend.  Despite their still-furry coats, both looked the part as future dressage horses.  Redwood Hit loved the opportunity to show off, bouncing around the arena and making all our jaws drop, while Ramiro Hit's laid-back attitude had him just cruising around.  Here are a couple of pics....see if you can see the quality horses through the fluff!  New video links are on our For Sale page.

6th October

Congratulations to Queenslander Catherine Smith on the birth this morning of her gorgeous Sir Donnerhall filly out of Cooramin's newest mare Double TT Klass.  The filly, appropriately named Sophie, is the spitting image of her dam and will be a very elegant mare.  We wish she was ours!

26th September

We took advantage of the glorious weather over the weekend to snap some new pics of Cooramin Rialto Hit (Robbie) at three weeks of age, as well as some more pics of the new Hilkens Nougat Cream colt at one day of age.  Here are a few cute pics of the boys.  See our For Sale page for more great pics.  Boy, Robbie is a poser and what a super type he is!

25th September

We are delighted to announce the arrival of our second foal for the season - a colt by imported German Riding Pony Hilkens Nougat Cream, out of Byalee Mandolin, our little Medallion/Salute mare.  We are playing a guessing game over his colour at present, as his coat has the classic silver sheen that black foals have at birth, yet he has an unusual creamy shading around his eyes and muzzle, as well as slate-coloued eyes.  He may be a variation on buckskin, but the only way to know is to do a hair colour test.  Either way, he's very cute!

He has been called Noddy at home, which matches his cuteness very well, but we're still working on a registered name.

Here are a few pics, taken when he had barely dried out after birth.

5th September

In the most foul windy rainy weather imaginable, our first foal was born at 3.30am this morning - a bay colt by Royal Hit out of DP Debut (Salute/Dutch Gold).  This is a full brother to Cooramin Roxy Hit and Cooramin Rhapsody Hit and is a similarly super type.  This is such a great reliable cross and we will repeat it again this year...why would you do anything else when the foals are all built like this!

Poor little fella was very cold and wet.....and then life got even worse when his mother deserted him to go and stand in the shelter out of the weather!!  Hopefully the terrible weather will clear soon.  Here are some pics of the little man.

29th August

Winter coats are starting to shift, but the yearlings are still looking rather fluffy.  The Winter Woollies sale prices have been extended until their glossy coats are through, but time will run out soon to snap up one of these super bargains.

New videos of Cooramin Don Aloha (Duggie) and Cooramin Flamecrest (Flippa) have just been uploaded to Youtube (see links on the For Sale page).  The footage of Flippa was taken after just one month under saddle.  Both boys are looking fantastic!

19th August

Cooramin Flamecrest (Flippa) just keeps getting better and better!  We took some new photos today and he looks super!  See the new pics on the For Sale page.  Flippa will now go out for a holidday for a while before being brought in for preparation for sale.

18th August

We are delighted to welcome a special new edition to Cooramin's broodmare herd today, Double TT Klass (Katie).  Katie is the dam of two of our best mares, HV Wildfire (by Weltmeyer) and HV Florencia (by French Kiss), and has been a consistent producer of quality frozen semen fillies.  She is an anglo mare by the fantastic anglo performance sire Penmarric Killarney and a Royal Show champion herself.  Katie is in foal to Sir Donnerhall at the moment and the foal will remain the property of Katie's previous owner.  We have everything crossed that she will go in foal to the outstanding German Trakehner sire Hohenstein this season.  Thanks to Catherine for giving us the opportunity to add this lovely girl to our broodmare herd.

This brings our mare numbers to TEN!  A friend advised me that I need to go to Broodmares Anonymous to work on this addiction to lovely mares!  This addiction is a positive one for our breeding program though, as quality broodmares are the heart and soul of a successful breeding program and we take great pride in the girls that grace our paddocks.

12th August

News today that is both sad and happy, with the sale of Heather's long term dressage partner Cooramin Mon Starr (Oscar).  The decision to sell him wasn't an easy one, but we are delighted that he will be very well loved by Hayley Lane of Wollongong.  Heather has known Hayley for many years, when both riders were competing at FEI level, so it is lovely to know that he is going to such a great home.  We will certainly miss the big fella, but we wish Hayley all the very best with him and hope that they have a long partnership together.

1st August

On the most wintery and wet of days today, we took Cooramin Don Aloha (Duggie) to his first show - an allbreeds youngstock show at Holbrook.  Thankfully the rings were all under cover!  Duggie made us SO proud, not only behaving beautifully, but bringing home two champions and a supreme champion in the large breed ring!!  What a start to his showing career!  The judge commented on his lovely neck set, quality movement and beautiful head and said that he would make a lovely hack.  He attracted many comments and enquiries from fellow competitors, which made us all very proud.

I am battling with a desire to keep him as he is such a pleasure to work with, not to mention his close bloodline relationship with my retired FEI horse Aloha Titan, but reality dictates that he must be sold.  He will be advertised next month, so please feel free to contact me if you are interested.  He could have a career in both dressage and showing and will make someone a truly special partner.  I will cry when this one is sold!

Below are some photos from the show.

5th July 2010

We welcomed the arrival today of our new Rotspon mare, Rotspon Rhythmnstyle.  She appears to have travelled well and has settled in quickly at Cooramin.  Her Belissimo M foal, due in November, will be a very exciting addition!

3rd July 2010

Heather had the pleasure of her first ride on Flippa today at the breaker...what a lovely rideable horse he is!  Geoff has done a great job with him and he is confident, forward, responsive, soft and naturally round, as well as incredibly balanced for a baby.  While still very green, he is showing all the qualities we aim to breed into our horses and we are very excited about his future!  Gary Luther will take over the ride next week to prepare him for sale.  Gary has done a great job with the Cooramin horses over the past few years and we are looking forward to seeing him form a partnership with Flippa.

Here are a few pics from today...

30th June 2010

We are excited to announce the purchase of a new addition to our broodmare herd today!  Rotspon Rhythmnstyle (Gemma) is by super German Rubinstein son Rotspon, who has produced many fantastic dressage horses in Europe as well as in Australia.  Gemma is in foal to the gorgeous Belissimo M via frozen semen, a Bundeschampion himself and sire of Bundeschampion Blickpunkt.  The resulting double frozen semen bred foal will combine the Rubinstein line with the Bolero line, both international champion bloodlines known for rideability and high level performance.  We eagerly anticipate the birth in November!  Gemma will be bred to Lord Sinclair this year.  Her arrival will be welcomed at Cooramin next week.

26th June 2010

It's coming around to the time of year for making stallion choices for the coming breeding season.  How did that come around so fast?!  We are going to try frozen semen with several of our mares this year, so fingers crossed for positive results.  We are excited to have purchased semen from De Niro, Hohenstein, Lord Sinclair, Weltmeyer and Sandro Hit!  The Weltmeyer will probably be saved for a later season, but with luck we will have pregnancies from all the others later this year, along with more from Royal Hit, Furst Love and Riverside.

25th June 2010

Flippa (Cooramin Flamecrest) headed off to the breaker a couple of weeks ago and we were delighted this morning to hear that he's fabulous to ride!  The breaker said he is incredibly balanced, light, responsive, naturally in self carriage and that he absolutely loves riding him!  All the things we hope for in a dressage horse.  We can't wait to see him going!

22nd June 2010

Winter Woolies BARGAINS!!  To make room for this year's foals, we are again offering our youngsters for sale at bargain prices while they're in their winter woolies.  This sale was a great success last year, with several buyers securing their new horses at reduced prices, so please feel free to contact Heather if you are interested in any of the youngsters.  Prices will go up as soon as their summer coats come through!

7th May 2010

We're home from our incredible trip of a lifetime!  I must first apologise to those who were following my travel diary on this website, as it became more and more difficult to keep updated.  Internet access was not always available and time was so limited, so my diary suffered badly as the trip wore on.  My apologies if you were trying to live vicariously through us!

We have had such an amazing time.  As you may have already read, the first two weeks were spent visiting breeders, auctions and competitions, seeing some of the most famous horses in the world in the flesh.  It was a real eye-opener to see how intensively the European horses are managed through the colder months and the wide variety in facilities and staff at different places.

We saw all sorts of horses and I was really pleased to come away with the feeling that Australian breeding really is not that far behind the Europeans in terms of the quality being produced.  It was very encouraging and inspiring.  The importance of the mares was reinforced to me even more strongly and I feel very encouraged and inspired.  All the places we visited were more than happy to show us around and I highly recommend this experience to anyone who has the opportunity.

For the following ten days we drove ourselves through Scotland, England and Ireland.  In Scotland we visited Edinburgh, the Highlands and Loch Ness.  In England we visited the Lake District, Yorkshire, Norfolk, the Cotswolds, Bath, Stonehenge and of course London.  We only had a few days in Ireland, so only got as far as Kilkenny and Kildare, including the Irish National Stud.

The second half of our trip was spent on a 21 day Trafalgar bus tour.  Before we left I was unsure whether we had made the right decision to do the tour rather than self-guiding, but now am positive that it was the right thing to do....it was fantastic!  Our tour guide was a fountain of information, giving us a constant stream of history....royal families and battles and disasters and rituals.  I learned so much and it made the trip so much richer to know what happened in places where we stood.  He was able to guide us to local specialities and as a result none of us fit into our clothes any more.  Still, it was fantastic!!

The bus took us through Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Leichtenstein, Austria (we escaped for a performance at the Spanish Riding School in Vienna), Italy and France.  Those typed country-names seem so hollow compared with the incredible richness and history that we found there.  A wonderful, wonderful experience.  I have hand-written my diary and will endeavour to put it up in the coming days and weeks....it's quite a book!  Photos will be coming soon too.

The horses have all grown a ghastly winter coat in my absence, but have done well in the excellent care of Jaymie and Tara.  Huge thanks to both of you for your commitment and diligence....you both deserve a medal!

My apologies to anyone who has been unsuccessfully trying to contact me via telephone.  I am back to normal communications now and am more than happy to welcome visitors.

17th March

Tomorrow morning we will head off for the start of our "trip of a lifetime" to Europe.  We will be at Dressage and Jumping with the Stars in Werribee this weekend, as well as the Bloomfield auction on Sunday so please come and say hi if you see us there.  We will fly out to Germany on Monday morning and return to Wagga on 6th May.

While we are away, please contact us by email (cooramin @ gmail.com) and Heather will endeavour to get back to you as soon as possible.

We will do our best to keep the Travel Diary page on this website updated, so keep an eye on it if you are interested in following our progress.

An enormous public thanks muct go to Jaymie Loy and Tara Campbell who are looking after the horses in our absence.  It is a big job and a significant responsibility and we really appreciate it very much.  Thanks also to Jessie and Andy for looking after the Jack Russells!

9th March

Congratulations go out today to Deborah Gabelle of Gundary NSW, the new owner of the amazing-moving weanling filly Cooramin Rhapsody Hit (Royal Hit x Salute/Dutch Gold).  Rhapsody left for her new home this afternoon.  We wish Deborah every success with Rhapsody and really look forward to tracking her future.

25th January

HV Florencia (by French Kiss out of Royal Show Champion Anglo, Double TT Klass) arrived late last night, safe and sound after her journey from Hunterview Stud in Scone.  She is a lovely natured and very beautiful mare who has already attracted a number of positive comments this morning.  Now to choose her stallion partner for later in the year!

In sad news, Aloha Crystal Bell, who was in foal to Royal Hit, lost her pregnancy last week at 100 days gestation.  This is a very sad loss, as Crystal Bell is a sister to Heather's retired FEI dressage horse and we are desperate to retain a filly from her.  We are weighing up the options for re-breeding and are considering embarking on an embryo transfer programme with her.

6th January

Some exciting news for the broodmare herd at Cooramin today, with the purchase of a young mare by the exquisite World Champion young horse French Kiss.  HV Florencia is a half sister to our HV Wildfire, out of the royal show champion anglo mare Double TT Klass, who is by the well known anglo sire Penmarric Killarney.  We are very excited to bring this new bloodline into our mares.  We believe she is one of very few French Kiss mares in Australia, so we really look forward to seeing what she can produce for us.  It is expected that Florencia will arrive at Cooramin next week.

HV Florencia (French Kiss x Penmarric Killarney)

We also have another pregnancy to announce - Brae Donleila (by Don Ramiro) is in foal to Riverside, so it will be great to see what this combination produces.  This is our sixth pregnancy for the season!

4th January

We are very pleased to say that Echo (Northern Linnea) was confirmed in foal to Royal Hit today.  After the sad loss of her Riverside foal in November, we gave Echo another chance at being a mum, by pairing her up with an orphaned thoroughbred colt.  The fostering was wonderfully successful and Echo loves the colt like her own.

A big thanks to the Lamont family and staff at Kooringal Stud, who are taking excellent care of Echo and have been nothing but helpful when it came to setting her up for insemination.

3rd January

Happy New Year to all our clients, friends and family!  We hope that you have had a safe and happy festive season.

To herald in the new year, we have updated the foal photos today.  Here are a couple of photos of the amazing Rhapsody Hit.  Her new owner has every reason to be very excited!

New photos and video links of the other foals will be put up on the For Sale page over the next few days.

14th December

Over the weekend, we had the pleasure of a visit from the Saxton family, who used to own Lily (Brae Donleila), our Don Ramiro mare.  Here are a few lovely pictures of Hannah socialising with Rhapsody and Folly.  Thanks to Lesley for the photos.

10th December

To wind up our 2009 foaling season, HV Wildfire (Weltmeyer x Penmarric Killarney) presented us with a magnificent chestnut colt by Royal Hit this morning.  Royal Hit has again proved his amazing ability to stamp his foals.  This latest addition will be known as Cooramin Redwood Hit (Rusty at home).

Here he is, at a few hours of age.

3rd December

Our second last foal for 2009 came into the world this morning....a lovely bay colt by Royal Hit out of Brae Donleila, who is by Don Ramiro.  We have called him Cooramin Ramiro Hit (aka Rocky).  He is very leggy, but compact, with the fantastic stamp of his sire, and has the most lovely friendly, confident nature.

Here are a couple of pics, taken at just a few hours of age.

1st December

We are pleased to now be able to offer payment plans on unweaned foals.  Please contact us if you would like to discuss the arrangements that we have in place.  An astute buyer has already taken up this option on our amazing filly, Cooramin Rhapsody Hit.  Cooramin Fairytale and our other two foals for 2009 (as yet unborn) will also be available for sale on payment plans.  See the For Sale page for further details of the foals for sale.

21st November

Sadly we have some bad news to report today.  Northern Linnea's Riverside foal was born unannounced this morning and tragically appears to have died in-utero.  Rest in Peace lovely filly....we are very sad to lose you.

11th November

We are delighted to have two more pregnancies to report.  Cooramin Bedazzled is confirmed in foal to Royal Hit and Mandolin is confirmed in foal to Hilken's Nougat Cream.  We are really looking forward to both foals.

Brae Donleila and Northern Linnea are both starting to bag up now, so only a few more weeks to wait before Heather will be back on foalwatch.

We must also take this opportunity to offer a big congratulations to Tara Campbell (a good friend and one of the team here at Cooramin) and Steve McCormack on their engagement!  We wish them all the very best as they commence this wonderful journey.

Congratulations also to Katrina Couttie, whose mare Jemimah gave birth to a lovely Smash Hit filly on the weekend.  The filly has been named Maple.  Jemimah and Maple are currently staying at Cooramin and will remain with us throughout the summer.

7th November

Our arena is complete!  We are delighted with how it looks.  Thanks to Vaughn Fisher for doing such a great job.

To celebrate it's completion, the very first horse to enter the arena was dear old Titan, looking a treat at the grand old age of 23yo.  He reminded us all why he was such a great little dressage horse in his hey day, still showing plenty of bend in his joints.  He was quite chuffed to be the first to grace the arena.  These are photos that we will treasure.

We also took some great new photos of Rhapsody Hit and Fairytale.  For more photos see our For Sale page.  New video footage of Don Aloha, Flamecrest, Rhapsody Hit and Fairytale will be uploaded in the next few days.  Keep an eye on the For Sale page for the new links.

30th October

There has been great progress on the arena this week, with sand delivered and the fence well on the way.  Here are a few progress photos...

26th October

We received word today that former Cooramin broodmare, Pizzazz, now owned by Wendy Jones, has given birth to a gorgeous buckskin colt by Byalee Briar.  Wendy has named him Bramble.  Congratulations Wendy!

24th October

Much excitement at Cooramin today, with confirmation that both DP Debut and Aloha Crystal Bell (Tilly) are in foal to Royal Hit.  Debut's foal will be a full sibling to Cooramin Roxy Hit and Cooramin Rhapsody Hit, whilst Tilly's foal will be a first for this cross.  We tried unsuccessfully to breed Tilly last year, so we are delighted that she conceived on the first attempt this year.

More exciting news for us.....we have booked a trip to Europe next year!  We will be lucky enough to be there for the Dressage World Cup Final in S'Hertogenbosch and hope to attend an auction and do a number of stud visits while we are there, as well as see the sights of Europe.  How exciting!

19th October

Great excitement at Cooramin today, with the arrival of the timber for our arena fence!  Construction will commence in the next week or so.  It will be fantastic to have somewhere to show off the youngsters and work our riding horses.  Here are our exciting piles of sticks!  Watch this space for the progress on the fence....

Last week, Oscar and Gary were lucky enough to attend a clinic with Brett Parbury.  Brett was very complimentary of Oscar's talent.  Whitney Chapple was in attendance with her camera, so here are a few snaps of the lesson.

12th October

Another round of congratulations are in order for Karin Howard, the excited new owner of Cooramin Pippin.  Pippin is headed for Dingo in Queensland.  Here are a few photos of her, taken just last weekend for inclusion in a Horse Deals ad next month.  Karin was astute enough to decide to purchase Pippin even before seeing these gorgeous new photos!  We wish her every success with this beautiful filly.

6th October

We said goodbye to Roxy today, as she headed off to her new home in Sydney.  In the midst of a circling storm, she loaded herself onto the truck before we were even ready to ask her to walk up!  Her first time on a truck and what a star!  All the very best with her Julie....she is a very special filly and you will have a lot of fun with her.

Over the weekend we enjoyed prepring Pippin for a photoshoot.  It was the first time she has been preened so thoroughly and she behaved beautifully.  She looks gorgeoous with her new summer coat.  You can check out the photos on the For Sale page.  Pippin will be advertised in November Horse Deals.

1st October

Right on her due date, Dolly has delivered a very cute filly by the Ryans' young stallion Fiji (Florencio x Harvard).  Dolly is a maiden mare, but has taken to motherhood brilliantly.  Despite Dolly's diminutive size, the filly is quite tall and strong, and has a very pretty head.  She has a wonderful mix of bloodlines for dressage, with Florencio being a World Champion in Young Horse classes and Medallion and Salute both being prolific producers of FEI horses.  Fiji himself is just starting to compete and has already amassed a very impressive record in the dressage arena.  Here are a few photos of Cooramin Fairytale (Folly), taken at three hours of age, just as the sun came up.

25th September

We are delighted to send a huge congratulations to Julie Allen from Sydney, on the purchase of the amazing yearling Cooramin Roxy Hit.  Roxy is one that we are very reluctant to sell, but Julie offers a fantastic home and will give her every opportunity to become the super dressage horse that she promises to be.  Julie, we can't wait to sit by the arena and drink champagne when you're in the winner's circle!  We're very excited for you!

Roxy's full sister, Cooramin Rhapsody Hit, is now two weeks old and looking like she will be every bit as amazing as Roxy.  Here are some new photos, taken on their first adventure out into the lovely long grass in the big paddock.

We are eagerly awaiting the arrival of Dolly's foal by Fiji.  She is due next week but we're keeping a close eye on her, as she's a maiden.  She's bagging up well, so it shouldn't be too long before we have another birth announcement!

13th September

Vanilla-Choc left for his new home in Harden today.  His new family reported that he travelled well on the float and, despite being horrified by the miniature pony next door, is settling in to his new paddock nicely.  We wish Brittany all the best for their partnership together in the future.

Taking Vanilla-Choc's place in the yearling paddock, Titan stepped in to keep Don Aloha and Roxy Hit company.  Babysitting is Titan's very important role in life now, which he loves because it means he gets to eat what the babies are eating!  Like he needs it!

Don Aloha will be gelded this week, so he is enjoying his last days of mischief!

12th September

Our first foal for the season has arrived!  After nine days of being waxed up, Debut finally presented us with her foal last night- a bay filly, just as ordered!  We have called her Cooramin Rhapsody Hit.  Here she is at about ten hours old.

We celebrated the 23rd birthday today of Heather's little FEI champ, Aloha Titan.  He is still as rotund as ever and a picture of health in his old age.  Happy Birthday little buddy!

On a more sober note, we would like to extend our sincere sympathies to Linda Krogh on the loss of her lovely competition mare Rimini Park Paage.  Linda made the brave decision to lay her to rest after an horrific float accident.  RIP Paage.

11th September

Oscar had a lesson with Sue Walker today, with Gary Luther in the saddle.  We are very pleased to say that Oscar has had no recurrence of his mystery lameness since coming back into work.  He is working so nicely that you would never know that he has had a 12 month holiday!

10th September

Congratulations to Brittany Grovenor from Harden, the excited new owner of Cooramin Vanilla-Choc!  She has high aspirations for him as an eventer for the future, so we can't wait to see his name up in lights!  We hope you enjoy him as much as we have.

28th August

We are delighted to announce a birth of the human kind!  Heather's sister Jessie and brother-in-law Andy McCabe welcomed Oliver John into the world today!  Ollie is Jane's first grandchild and the whole family is delighted with his safe arrival.  Jessie and Andy are doing amazingly well as first-time parents and Ollie is just gorgeous.  Congratulations guys!

Here he is, having his first cuddle with Aunty Heather and Granny Jane.

27th August

Debut is looking positively enormous and has bagged up considerably over the last few days, so it looks like foalwatch is on the cards before too much longer!

13th August

Jason and Heather are off to Queensland for a pre-breeding season holiday in the sun!  We will be attending the Magic Millions Sporthorse Auction this weekend, followed by a much-anticipated stay on Daydream Island for our wedding anniversary.  We will be back in Wagga on the 23rd, so will respond to any enquiries as soon as we can.

Many thanks, once again, to Jane and Tara for holding the fort at Cooramin while we are away....we are forever grateful for your support!

11th August

We said goodbye to Rolly (Cooramin Rolls Royce) today, as he headed to his new home on the NSW Central Coast.  We look forward to his progress reports and wish Susie and Michael all the very best for his future.

10th August

The first sign of breeding season appeared at Cooramin today, with Debut just starting to bag up.  Her Royal Hit foal is due 16th Sept and will be a full sibling to Cooramin Roxy Hit.  Debut tried to foal very early last year (fully bagged and waxed up more than 5 weeks before her due date) so it is a relief to see that she appears to be much more on track this year.  We eagerly await her foal!

3rd August

Farewell Herbie!  The big fella left us this morning, headed for Sydney and his new home.  He walked straight up on the truck and despite being a bit squished, he was quite relaxed as he embarked on the next phase of his life.  Good luck Steph....we look forward to reports of his progress.

29th July

We're very pleased to be able to bring Oscar (Cooramin Mon Starr) back into work today after a 12 month break.  He was suffering from a mystery foot lameness which remains undiagnosed, but after a full veterinary examination it appears that he has recovered!  He's had a couple of rides at this stage and feels like he's been in work the whole time, so we're very excited.  Gary Luther is going to take over the ride, but Heather fully intends to steal a few rides for herself amid the breeding season chaos that is looming.

27th July

More congratulations are in order today!  It must be the season for it!

Our warmest congratulations to Stephanie Xavier from Sydney, on the purchase of one of our favourite horses, Cooramin Alabastarr (Herbie).  We know that Steph and Herbie will have a fantastic time together.

Herbie was the first foal that Jas helped to deliver, as well as being the first foal born on our new property, so he will always hold a special place in our hearts.  Steph, I have promised Jas that we will visit so he can keep track of his first-born son!  All the very best with him for a bright future together!

12th July

Congratulations to Michael Clayton and Susie Clapton, of the NSW Central Coast, on the purchase of the gorgeous black Cooramin Rolls Royce.  Rolly will stay at Cooramin for a little while, before heading off to his new home.

21st June

After a photography session over the weekend, the photos and video links on our For Sale page have now been updated.  We hope you enjoy the footage of the babies in their winter woolies!

17th June

We said farewell to Chester (Cooramin Virtuoso) today, as he embarked on the long journey to Tasmania.  He loaded straight onto the truck, like he'd done it all before, so we hope he has a stress-free trip.  Congratulations to his new owner, well known Tasmanian showjumper and coach, Nicky Brown.  Good luck with him Nicky - we hope to see his jumping results up in lights in a few years time!

29th May

Congratulations to Wendy Jones on the purchase of the lovely mare Pizzazz, in foal to Byalee Briar.  Pizzazz left this morning on her long journey to Jambin in Queensland.  We wish Wendy all the very best with Pizzazz and look forward to the news of her foal's arrival in October.

25 April

Cooramin is excited to have purchased two service fees in the online service fee auction raising money for the horse-owning fire and flood victims.  The first was for Hilken's Nougat Cream, the imported buckskin German Riding Pony, which will be used with Byalee Mandolin, our little Medallion/Salute mare.  This will be a first for Cooramin, breeding smaller dressage horses, but we feel that this will be an exceptional cross.  The second service fee purchased was for the imported Premium Licensed stallion Riverside, standing at Revelwood.  This service will probably be used with Brae Donleila, our Don Ramiro/Winterkoenig mare, in the 2010 season.  Congratulations to the organisers of the auction and thanks to the stallion owners for donting services for such a worthy cause.

The rain falling in Wagga today is such a welcome sight, after such a long dry spell.  The paddocks have been bare for months, so hopefully this rain will see some wonderful grass return to the paddocks.  The horses would certainly be grateful.

11th April

The four oldest foals (Roxy Hit, Virtuoso, Vanilla Choc and Don Aloha) have been weaned over the past couple of weeks and have all coped very well with the changes in their lives.  They are all in a paddock together now and enjoying each other's company enormously.  I hope to soon manage to snap a photo of them all crammed in the paddock shelter together!

17th March

We hope you enjoy our new photos of Cooramin Rolls Royce (Regardez Moi x Weltmeyer/Penmarric Killarney) and Cooramin Roxy Hit (Royal Hit x Salute/Dutch Gold), taken at the ACE Assessment day.

Huge thanks to Carlee Coombs, Whitney Chapple and Tara Campbell (all pictured above) for their help in preparing the mares and foals for assessment.

The above four photos were taken by Wagga animal photographer Whitney Chapple.  Feel free to drop me an email if you would like her contact details.

5th March

Herbie (Cooramin Alabastarr) came home from the breaker today and will be ridden for a little while by Gary Luther.  Herbie's wonderful temperament remained unchanged throughout the breaking-in process.  He has a positive, willing attitude and is a lovely easy ride.  He will be for sale once the basic work is established and he's had some time in the paddock to mature.

22nd February

Some new video footage has been put up on Youtube of our sensational moving foal, Cooramin Rolls Royce (Regardez Moi x Weltmeyer).  Please visit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UfDrcBMq9eY to see how he's growing up, now two months old.

21st February

We had the pleasure of visiting Herbie (Cooramin Alabastarr) at the breaker's place today.  He is going super-well and hasn't put a foot wrong.  The breaker is very complimentary of his temperament and trainability, which is wonderful to hear!  Herbie has always been a gem to handle, so it's great that his fantastic nature continues to shine through under saddle.

He is pictured here on approximately his 8th ride, even having a stockwhip cracked off him!

29th January

Another exciting pregnancy to report, with HV Wildfire (Grace), our gorgeous Weltmeyer mare) going straight in foal to Royal Hit.  We expect that this will be a very exciting foal!

8th January

It was a great relief to see a pregnancy on the ultrasound screen for Lily (Brae Donleila) today.  Lily has had two attempts with frozen semen, with no luck, so she was bred to Royal Hit and went straight in foal for us.  It is wonderful to have the opportunity to breed to a stallion of this quality via chilled semen.  We are sure that Lily, who is by Don Ramiro, will produce a sensational foal by Royal Hit.

The four colt foals will be advertised in Horse Deals next month.  Please feel free to contact us if you are interested in viewing any of them - Vanilla-Choc, Virtuoso, Don Aloha and Rolls Royce.  In addition, two of our broodmares have become available for sale - Northen Linnea in foal to Riverside and Pizzazz in foal to Byalee Briar.  Both have been great mares for us, but the numbers have escalated beyond our plans!  We are sure that they will continue to make their mark as valuable broodmares for other breeders.

3rd January

Good news on the pregnancy front, with Northern Linnea confirmed in foal to Riverside.  She went in foal on the first attempt way back in October, but conceived twins which could not be separated and sadly both were lost in an attempt to squash one of them.  Thankfully she has gone straight back in foal when re-bred two weeks ago.  She will now be offered for sale.  We will all be quite sad to see her go, as she's such a sweet mare and has become part of the Cooramin family.

20th December

Foaling season came to a close with a bang last night, with HV Wildifre (by Weltmeyer out of a Penmarric Killarney mare) producing a ripper of a true black colt by Regardez Moi.  We're very impressed!  With this mix of international GP bloodlines on both sides of his immediate pedigree, he should have a great future in dressage.  He's uphill, leggy, pretty and we saw him execute a perfect clean flying change on his first ever canter!!

Here he is...

8th December

Good news on the pregnancy front with a positive preg test for Pizzazz today.  She is in foal to Byalee Briar, with a 50% chance of a buckskin or palomino foal and it's sure to have lots of white!  Pizzazz will be for sale in foal to Briar once Virtuoso (Chester) is weaned in March, or is available now with Virtuoso at foot.

Central Park Milan (Millie) has gone to a new home - Tex Lea Cleveland Bays - where she will be bred to one of their purebred Cleveland Bay stallions.  All the best to Scott and Jenni with this sweetie of a mare.

Now we just need some pregnancies with the frozen semen!  It hasn't been a great start to the season pregnancy-wise, with Northern Linnea (Echo) losing twins and second attempts with the frozen semen for Brae Donleila (Lily) and Aloha Crystal Bell (Tilly), but hopefully things will improve this time around.

We are waiting on our final foal for the season - a Regardez Moi foal out of our gorgeous Weltmeyer mare HV Wildfire (Grace).  This is a wonderful mix of internationally successful Grand Prix genetics and should be a really special foal.  She is due on 23rd December and bagging up now, so not too much longer to wait....

24th November

Congratulations to Fiona McKerrow on the purchase of Cooramin Trickstarr (Harry).  Fiona and Harry look great together, so we wish her all the luck in the world with this very talented young horse.  An enormous vote of thanks has to go to Gary Luther, a Nuclear Medicine student who has been Harry's rider for most of 2008.  Gary has done a fantastic job with him and deserves a lot of the credit for producing him at his best.

Look out Herbie....Gary is looking for another horse to ride next year!  :)

21st November

Cooramin's broodmare band expanded to eight today, with the arrival of Byalee Mandolin (Dolly), a 3yo by Medallion out of a Salute mare.  She is quite a lot smaller than expected and will take some time to get into the "fat as houses, in-your-face" state that the Cooramin mares tend to adopt, but she has a sweet nature and is a flashy mover, so we look forward to what she produces for us.  The Medallion mares seem to be consistently producing superior foals, so hopefully Dolly will be a wonderful addition to our breeding programme.  We may even go down the path of crossing her with a German Riding Pony next year!

16th November

Congratulations to Ella Weaven and Democracy, who won the Cooramin Sporthorses Associate Championship at the Wagga Wagga Dressage Championships today.  Ella and Democracy are shown here with Heather.

31st October

We would like to invite all our friends and clients (including prospective clients!) to a social BBQ at Cooramin tomorrow afternoon.  There will be an opportunity to view the horses from 5pm, with nibbles provided, followed by a BBQ starting at around 6.30pm.  Everyone is welcome, including partners, friends and supervised children, but please leave your dogs at home.  If you'd like to join in for the BBQ, please BYO meat, drinks and a chair.  Salad, nibbles and desserts will be provided.  If you're interested in seeing the horses, or would just like to pop in to socialise for a while, we'd love to see you there!

25th October

Fantastic news today, as DP Debut has been confirmed back in foal to Royal Hit, for a full sibling to Cooramin Roxy Hit.  This has proven to be an absolutely fantastic cross, so we are delighted that there is another one on the way.

22nd October

Our flurry of October colts continued this morning, with the much anticipated birth of Aloha Crystal Bell's foal by Don Ramiro.  He is a spunky little fellow and has inherited the really pretty head of his dam.  The birth went smoothly and he is full of beans already!  We have called him Cooramin Don Aloha (Duggie) and it is expected that he will be quite a special little horse.

18th October

Yesterday was a very eventful day at Cooramin, with two births!  The first to foal was Pizzazz (by Gwaihir Aubusson), who had her Copabella Visage foal at midday.  Luckily I happened to go home from work at lunch time and found her foaling.  The foal is huge and was quite stuck.  Huge thanks to Bianca and Bec, who helped me to pull him out.  My body is aching all over this morning!  He is a bay colt with four white socks and a blaze and a very friendly personality.  We have called him Cooramin Virtuoso (aka Chester).

Just when we thought we could have a breather, Lily finally foaled, 24 days overdue.  Another colt, but this time a pinto!  Lily is a maiden mare, but has taken to motherhood like an old hand and absolutely adores her colourful son.  We have called him Cooramin Vanilla-Choc (aka Chico)!

12th October

Lily (Brae Donleila) is keeping is in suspense with her Copabella Visage foal, as she's now 2½ weeks overdue and still a long way from properly bagging up.  Pizzazz and Tilly (Aloha Crystal Bell) are due in the next week and are looking closer to foaling than Lily is!

Harry (C. Trickstarr) went to a lesson with Sue Walker today and went absolutely beautifully.  He is improving every day and is maturing into a truly outstanding horse.  Sue had a ride and was very positive about his future as a dressage horse.  Here are some photos from the lesson...

We have also taken some updated photos of Roxy Hit, Pippin and Alabastarr, which you can find on the For Sale page.  There are also some links to some updated video footage on Youtube.

15th September

The wait for Debut's foal was worth it!  She presented us with a beautiful filly last night.  Welcome to the world Roxy.  Here she is - Royal Hit x Salute/Dutch Gold.

14th September

We have returned home from a fantastic wedding and honeymoon as Mr and Mrs Ip (yes, you are reading the surname correctly!).  Here are a few photos of our special day....Daydream Island was wonderful!!

The wedding date was set for August to avoid the commencement of foaling in late September, but things didn't quite go to plan!  More than a month before her due date, DP Debut caused much stress for Jane and Tara by waxing up and looking like she was about to deliver her baby way undercooked.  Thanks to a fantastically supportive team at home, she was quickly onto Regumate and antibiotics and is still carrying the foal, now just two weeks off her due date.  I was sure that she would have the foal before Jason and I returned from our honeymoon, but she held on for us.  Unfortunately this means that we have yet to sleep in our own bed as a married couple!  It was straight into the "foalwatch hut" (a small tent on the top of the hill!) for us and we are now just waiting for the arrival of her much-anticipated Royal Hit foal.

We would like to make an extra special public thanks to Jane Clegg (Heather's mum) and Tara Campbell (fantastic friend and Cooramin's number 1 supporter), who willingly gave so much time and energy to the Cooramin horses (Debut in particular) while we were away.  This included not only feeding up the masses, but milk testing and medicating Debut and two nights of foalwatch before our return home.  An enormous THANK YOU Jane and Tara!!

Watch this space for news on the birth of our first 2008 foal very soon!

20th August

Heather and Jason will be heading off to their wedding on Daydream Island tomorrow morning, followed by a trip to New Zealand.  They will return to Wagga Wagga on September 10th and look forward to tending to your enquiries as soon as possible.

17th August

Cooramin Trickstarr (Harry) delighted us all today, winning two tests at Wagga Dressage competition, scoring over 70%.  On only his second time out under saddle, he behaved perfectly all day and received some very exciting comments from the judges.  Gary continues to do a great job as his rider and we are thrilled with his progress.  Harry will be officially for sale in October/November, offering a fantastic opportunity for a rider to purchase a very talented horse.

19th June

In the midst of our first decent fall of rain all season, our little orphan Condor loaded up onto the truck for his long trip to Queensland this morning.  Here's hoping that he travels well and arrives safely.  Hopefully we will see him out on the jumping circuit in a few years time.

1st June

Congratulations to Ben Bell, showjumping rider from Queensland, on the purchase of Condor.

25th May

Trickstarr (Harry) had his first outing today, with eventer Gary Luther in the saddle, and was an absolute star!  He was entered with the intention of just getting him out for some exposure to the world, so we were thrilled when he brought home ribbons for both tests, with percentages of 65% and 66% in the preparatory and preliminary respectively.  Both judges appreciated his potential and lovely paces, with many spectators commenting on his wonderful swing and bend through his joints.  He didn't put a foot wrong all day and made us all feel very excited for his future.

4th May

Pippin and Condor were weaned today - everything went smoothly, with mares and foals accepting the separation without turning a hair.  We prefer to wean in the yards, with mares going into a yard diagonally opposite the foals so they can see each other but not make contact.  This gets the job done with the minimum of fuss and distress.  After a few days, they will go quietly off to different paddocks.  Condor's foster mum has served us well and will return to CSU soon.

Trickstarr is back in work in preparation for his sale.  Young eventer, Gary Luther, has taken over the ride on him and so far they are going very well together.

19th March

At last, Cooramin's two new broodmares have arrived!  Both have been stuck in the former Purple Zone of NSW, waiting for restrictions to be lifted.

Wildfire (aka Grace) is by Weltmeyer out of an anglo mare by performance sire Penmarric Killarney and Brae Donleila (aka Lily) is by Don Ramiro out of a Winterkoenig mare.  Both new mares are outstanding types and show very impressive movement in the paddock.  They coped well with the trip, despite long hours in the truck on a very hot day and we look forward to the arrival of their foals (by Regardez Moi and Copabella Visage respectively) later in the year.

14th March

Jason and I are excited to announce that we have finally set a wedding date - we're heading off to Daydream Island in the Whitsundays on 23rd August this year.  It will be an intimate affair, with just a few invited guests, and we will honeymoon there afterwards.  Can't wait!  We'll return to Wagga just in time for the foaling season to kick off!

31st January

Our foaling season came to a close this morning with Central Park Milan giving birth to a strapping chestnut colt by Ferrero Rocher.  Millie is a maiden mare and is doing a wonderful job with this lovely foal.

10th January

Exciting news for the broodmare band, with the purchase of a Weltmeyer mare and a Don Ramiro mare!  Unfortunately both are stuck in the Purple Zone until movement restrictions are lifted.  Grace is by Weltmeyer, out of a Royal winning anglo mare by Penmarric Killarney and will be bred to Regardez Moi while stuck in the Purple Zone.  Lily is by Don Ramiro, out of a Winterkoenig mare and is already in foal to Copabella Visage.

3rd January

For prospective buyers, I am willing to offer free agistment to people from outside the NSW Green Zone until such time as the movement restrictions are lifted.

The loss of Glenwood Mystery in November has dropped our broodmare numbers below the quota of six, so I get to go looking for another mare!  I have two mares in mind, but unfortunately both are stuck in the Purple Zone.  Hopefully the DPI plan to move the Purple Zone to Amber and eventually to Green will be successful and I'll be able to look more seriously.  This should also free up the market for those wishing to purchase from interstate.

Happily, DP Debut, Aloha Crystal Bell and Pizzazz are confirmed in foal to Royal Hit, Don Ramiro and Copabella Visage respectively.  The season isn't over yet though, with Central Park Milan not due to show us her long-awaited Ferrero Rocher baby until early February.

30th November

Great news today, with the birth last night of an exquisite filly from Northern Linnea by Poetry in Motion.  She has four socks and a blaze and is something quite special!  Meet Cooramin Pippin...

24th November
Condor (aka Cosmo aka Charlie Cosmo) has some good news.  After a few days of trying to get his lovely thoroughbred foster mother to accept him, she has decided that she loves him after all!  She's had total unsupervised care of him since Thursday and is doing a fantastic job.  She even puts her ears back at us to hunt us away from him and goes crazy when he's taken away.  I've never been so pleased to see that behaviour!

They will hopefully be coming home in the next few days and, all going well, he should be able to grow up as a normal foal.  I am very grateful to be able to sleep through the night again!  Here is a pic of the early days of getting her to accept him....and look at them now!

19th November
Following the relief of getting Condor drinking well, the weekend took a tragic turn.  It seems that a section of Mystery's bowel was crushed during the traumatic delivery and she died on Saturday morning, leaving Condor an orphan at two days of age.  He's doing very well on the Biolac, slurping out of a bucket and full of beans.  I'm not so full of beans myself, with two-hourly feeds all through the night!  I've had fantastic support from CSU veterinarian Sharanne and other CSU staff, my friends and the ever-present Jas and Mum.  We have found a potential foster mare, who so far is going ok in the acceptance process.  We all have our fingers crossed that she continues to improve and accept him.

15th November
Our first 2007 foal was born last night, but not without drama!  He was presented upside down and Jas had his first experience of helping me pull a foal!  The foal had a weak suck reflex and I had to send Jas to borrow a baby bottle from a friend at 4am!  The taste of a bit of colostrum got him going and he's finally worked out what suckling is all about.  We have them in a stable while the shade shelter gets built in their paddock.  So....welcome to the world Cooramin Condor (Contenda x Glenwood Mystery).  Better photos to come when he's out of the stable.

In other news, DP Debut (Salute x Dutch Gold) is confirmed in foal to Royal Hit.  This should be a very exciting baby next year!

19th October
Our breeding season is underway, with two mares inseminated tonight and one coming up for insemination early next week.  Fingers crossed for some positive pregnancies soon.

I had to change my stallion choice for Aloha Crystal Bell.  She was to go to Mongraf for live cover, but while Wagga and Condobolin are both still in the EI Green Zone, unfortunately the Amber Zone fills the space in between, so a walk-on trip would have been a major undertaking - we'd have had to drive almost to Ivanhoe to get there!  We're now going to try her with Don Ramiro.

Glenwood Mystery and Northern Linnea are starting to bag up.  They're due to foal in a bit over a month, but Mystery looks like she'll explode before then!

27th September 07
Breeding plans are up in the air just now, as EI has claimed a number of the properties where our chosen stallions reside.  While the DPI are permitting semen to be sent out from infected properties, there is a risk of poor fertility of infected stallions...

21st September 07
Jason and I are engaged!  In the middle of moving house, Jas gave me the most wonderful surprise by proposing, complete with a trail of rose petals, a gorgeous diamond ring and the biggest bunch of flowers I've ever seen!!

15th September 07
We have a shed!  Well, most of it anyway.  The builders are yet to come back and clad in the feed room, tack room and workshop, but it's useable.  Jas got the honour of being the first to park something in there - his boat!

14th September 07
We had a bit of drama today!  I've been putting off getting Herbie (Alabastarr) gelded due to the EI restrictions on emergency vet work only, but he was getting just a bit too keen on the mares over the fence and I was worried that if I left it much later in the year the flies would torment him, so he had the snip at lunch time.  Unfortunately he didn't want to stop bleeding....and bled and bled and bled all afternoon!  I had to get an emergency permit from the DPI, allowing him to be taken in to the clinic for a general anaesthetic to have the blood vessels tied off.  He was such a good boy, walked up on the float and travelled beautifully with Uncle Titan by his side.  Everything seems fine now, fortunately.

The five minute drive to the clinic was interesting, with a lot of drivers glaring at us and someone even calling the police.  I'd hate to be trying to move horses without a permit!

8th September 07
For a few years I've been trying to find an anglo mare by Talquah Talik, so I can maintain the bloodlines of Aloha Titan, my now-retired FEI horse, in my breeding stock.  Titan is now head babysitter for the youngsters and grudgingly tolerates being climbed all over and having his tail chewed off!  If only the babies knew who they were messing with!!  Today I have finally become the excited owner of Aloha Crystal Bell, a full sister to FEI horses Aloha Bolero and Aloha Bobby Dazzler and half sister to Titan.  She is herself a former national champion show mare and I am very excited to start breeding with her, hoping for lots of fillies!  Unfortunately she's stuck in Adelaide until the EI standstill is lifted.  Photos coming when she gets to Wagga.

7th September 07
Great excitement today as the new shed frame starts to grow out of the ground!!  It will be a huge relief to finally be able to keep the hay, float, quad bike etc under cover.

6th September 07
Welcome to the first News posting for our new website.  I'll be updating this page regularly with news from Cooramin.
